As of SDRJ’s 2021-22 fiscal year, agency programs targeting people 18 years of age and older are not funded. Effort has been made to keep agency programs affordable, and our tenant mediation services come in below industry standard.
Mediation costs start at approximately $450 CAD, and increases depending on how many individuals are taking part in the mediation.
Base Mediation Fee: $350
The base mediation fee covers a three-hour conference, two mediators, and any administrative paperwork/tasks required.
Participant Fee: $100/participant
This fee covers the cost of the pre-conference intake sessions (one hour per party). A party can be an individual, a family, or an organization.
Additional Hours: $75/hour
If mediation cannot be completed within the original three hour conference, and there is reasonable cause to believe that an agreement can be reached, additional time may be allotted for mediation at a rate of $75/hour.
SDRJ collects harmonized goods and services tax at a rate of 13%. HST is not charged on mileage.
Mileage Fees: $0.59/km
This rate is the currently recommended amount by the Ontario government. Travel within the original City of Sudbury, Rayside Balfour, the Valley, and Lively does not incur a mileage fee. Travel to some outlying areas may incur fees.
Additionally, if the landlord is willing to provide the place for mediation as well as supplies and refreshments, mileage costs may be waived.
